Olympic Development Program

ODP

Overview

US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a great opportunity for players to experience playing with coaches and players outside of their team and club.

PURPOSE
ODP was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition.

STATE INVOLVEMENT
Each USYS State Association is responsible for identifying 11U-17U boys and girls of the highest caliber. If these players continue to advance through the state and regional levels, they could potentially be seen by US Soccer and/or college scouts!

Levels

ODP players have the opportunity to advance to state, regional, and national competitions.

1. Minnesota State Evaluations
08 (13U) - 04 (17U) players will be primarily evaluated at State Cup games
10 (11U) - 09 (12U) evaluation format to be announced

2. Midwest Region ID Camp
Minnesota ODP coaches in coordination with Chato Alvarado, Director of Coaching will choose 08 (13U) - 04 (17U) players to attend the Midwest Region ODP ID Camp. The top ODP players from each of the 12 states in the Midwest region attend this camp.

The ID Camp is typically held in early-mid July. 2021 dates have not yet been released.

3. Midwest Region Team
From the Midwest Region ODP ID Camp, ODP Midwest Region coaches will choose 18-26 players per age group for the Midwest Region team. These players will:

  • Attend an Interregional event held in Orlando, Florida in November

    • US Soccer, MLS, and College Scouts have attended past Interregional Events

  • $600*/player (does not include travel)

4. USYS National ODP Training Camp
A select group of players from the Regional teams will be invited to participate in the National Camp.

  • National team coaches and staff will be present to ID players for the national team

  • January 2021 in Florida
