The Detroit Lakes Rec program when first started had 12-15 players and over the years the numbers stabilized at 30-40 players.

In 2004 the format was changed with the view to "Just Let the Kids Play"

The first year the numbers increased to 90 and in 2007 it was two hundred and fifty players.

During this period we have been working on new fields for this important group of players. We are happy to let you know that the fields were leveled, a sprinkler system was installed and seeding was started in the fall of 2007. New goal posts have been purchased for the Big Beans.

It will probable be the 2009 season before the fields will be ready for play. We will soon be announcing a date for rock picking on these fields.

This year the coaches for the program will again be, Victor Wilkins and Jonathan Carter, both coaches have been through a NSCAA course and are also E licensed coaches.

We hope you are as excited as we are to get this group of players on to the Rotary Soccer Complex. where they will be able to learn their skills on level soft grass.

Community Education will again be handling the Mighty Strikers Registration and more information is in their Spring catalogue or you can sign up at their web site

Summer Soccer
Tiny Tikes (3 to 6 years old) and Big Beans (7 to 12 years old) are development
programs to give each player plenty of touches on the ball. Each team will require
parent volunteers to coach and assist teams. Parent volunteers will be in-serviced on
first day after t-shirts are handed out. Games will not be played the first night.
Simple rules will be established. Your fee includes a team t-shirt, MYSA insurance,
and Soccer Times publication. Teams will be posted the first night. Soccer photos
will take place on Thursday, June 12. If you want to be on the same team as a friend,
you will need to indicate that at the time of registration. Registration deadline: May 9, 2008.

Individuals registering after registration deadline may have a delay in receiving a team t-shirt. Cost: $35
